Joss Stone has miraculously placed herself among some of the most well-respected artists in current adult pop and rock. Groundbreaking soul sister Betty Wright worked with Stone on her first album, forging a great mentoring role to the English youngster with the ageless voice. Stone also enjoyed help from other greats, including vocalist Angie Stone and her band the Roots. It is difficult to imagine what the in-studio atmosphere must have been like, during recording of The Soul Sessions EP. A soulful set of 70s classics and monumental tracks by giants such as Wright herself and Aretha Franklin, the modern sound of Soul Sessions was facilitated by Miami soul musicians Benny Latimore, Timmy Thomas, and Little Beaver, all enormously respected members of the musical community. Stone's label S-Curve delighted in unleashing their one-of-a-kind starlet on an unsuspecting public, and encouraged rapid delivery of their sparkling little secret. The record was signed, sealed, and delivered in just four days, and Stone never looked back. In early 2004, Stone reworked and re-gendered the White Stripes hit "Fell in Love with a Girl." "Fell in Love with a Boy" was an instant hit, outdoing the two million mark. The second offering, 2004's Mind, Body & Soul , contained 14 tracks but this time 12 were written or co-written by Stone herself, and if anything this recording screamed to even better heights than the debut EP.
